Shadow Out of Time
Shadow Out Of Time is a group exhibit featuring twenty four artists whose work touches on notions of collective spiritual transformation. The exhibition’s title stems from a short story by H.P. Lovecraft, who, along with many of the artists included in the exhibition, drew inspiration from his native city of Providence, Rhode Island. The story describes an ancient and extraterrestrial race that have the ability to inhabit bodies throughout history, time, and space. These beings construct a library to house the collective knowledge of their various transmigrations. Shadow Out of Time seeks to represent one possible manifestation of this library as gathered by curators Haley O'Connor and Natalie Purkey of Stairwell Gallery.
