What happens when you try to organize an animation department field trip to NYC to see the legendary Richard Williams speak in New York City?
...you forget that you volunteered for a blog to make announcements just like this. Whoops!
Anyways, what is looking to be a legendary battle of the wits is shaping up for September 22nd at 7:00 PM:

Richard Williams is coming to New York City's Museum of Modern Art to hold a "talk" with John Canemaker. If you don't know (shame on you!), Richard Williams was the director of animation for Who Framed Roger Rabbit and John Canemaker is not only the department head of animation for NYU, but he's also written many, many books about animations and animators and is considered by many to be the expert in that field.
Expect to dish out $6 at the door and $7.50 if you're buying it in advanced (and if you're not a member- it's $6.50 if you are), assuming you're a student.

Tickets should be on sale RIGHT THIS MOMENT but you need to be either in NYC to pick them up in person or order them through group services (if you decide that you want to go with some classmates, make it an official school event). Good luck with the latter; I've been trying to reach the people in charge of this for the past week over the phone and email to no avail.
If you're in the Amherst area and you want to go, there may still be a couple spots open on the UMass kidnap van the animation department has comandeered- email me at jgchan [at] student.umass.edu and I'll let you in on the secrets (this deal only lasts before tuesday at 10:00AM!)
